I'll give ya 'Something Borrowed'! *threatens* (spoilers for TW 2x08)

I'm not very good at these reviewy things, partly because my organisational skills in writing are next to nothing, partly because I always want to write EVERYTHING I think about an episode - make it really comprehensive - and partly because my memory stinks, and I can't live!review cause I get caught up in the episode again too much, and the writing goes nowhere.

So BEAR WITH ME.

Did anyone else think, "ew... het"?

Gwen looked very pretty in her wedding dress, and I was genuinely saddened about all that money and hard-work, and through no fault of her own, she ended up suddenly having all this weight on her shoulders, and her back.


I hated the Jack/Gwen that was there. The 'Gwack', as people are calling it, was forced and took over far more of the story than it should. I can't see any chemistry with these two actors or people, so maybe you should *stop* writing them, Torchwood writers? Just give me my Jack/Ianto, and my occasional ultra-famous-actor story, and I will be happy. I'll even let you let Jack be angsty if you do that. WAIT, HE ALREADY IS.

That's another thing, this episode was full of missed opportunities.
Or rather, it wasn't :-\
There could have been some caring!Jack (aww, wedding!); worried!Jack (my team are getting married, eventually they're all gonna leave me); some wondering!Owen; Tosh was really underused (I thought, anyway), Ianto even more so (it really felt like he was "just a teaboy" here, even though he did stuff. The thing she did were more just like errandy stuff though. OH, I DON'T KNOW. I'M RUBBISH AT THESE, REMEMBER?)

The inconsistencies were there, as ever - I mean one episode we're getting full on Janto snoggage, the next, it looks like, to quote indes_elfwine that Jack's "settled" for Ianto cos he can't get Gwen. By this time, I'm thinking he's a dick. In a bad way. Ianto loves Jack lots (or something like that) and he's there with him, like a puppy. All Jack can do is see Gwen and make me go all cringey.

A lot of those moments too: I knew the mother-in-law/monster thing (ew) would get confused, and that the Jack and Gwen and mirror scene was a monster. And I actually had to hide at that. JB must have had fun in the costume, but it was all a bit *cringe* for me. When Jack stole Gwen, and got too close, and then Ianto stole Jack, I cringed too. In fact, worse, I ACTUALLY HAD TO HIDE. I shudda loved the dancing, but I didn't.

Apparently, Ianto DJ'ed this ep. WHEN?

He also chose a new wedding dress for Gwen. And held it up to himself. That was cute :)

I'm interested in how things are gonna work out with this Ianto-Jack-Gwen thing. Maybe Jack will have to choose to save in the finalé? Maybe he'll eventually have to work out which one he wants? Maybe he'll travel through space and time with his two companions and wait, that's another show I'm thinking of...

Whatever the case, I'm afraid a fluffy happy slashy fangirl, and I'm with Martha: backing Jack/IANTO all the way.

They have PROPERLY overdone the religious imagery this series, with Jesus!Owen last week and now the Virgin birth thing. Still, it amuses muchly, and allowed me to have an arguement with the housemate of doom about Lazarus in Doctor Who, which is always good.
Gwack should just stop being around, and do you know why? Because Gwack sounds like the noise a duck makes. And this is WRONG
Yes, Ianto DJ'd…I was sat there yelling IANTO'S DJING!!!! It was amazing. It was when Gwen and Rhys were having their dance and “You do something to me” was playing, which I of course went and downloaded straight away and am now listening to on repeat. FTW!

Gwen and Rhys finally got married, but then Jack went all sad over it, cos he's a loser.

It's still different, although Jack is being more emo over Gwen, and more unbothered about Ianto. Also, characters seem more pinned down, even though the stories actually have them all over the place (in one, Owen goes all swotty and Tosh gets all snoggy.)

Owen's been killed, and is still dead, which is actually a nice thing - he's dead forever, and Jack's alive forever - which works well.

When Ianto was choosing the wedding dress and like the shop owner was like "Yes, we have many men choosing dresses for their friends...." the look on Ianto's face was priceless.

Oh my God when Ianto actually said something about his family and then Jack was like "I might have to test you on that later..." and Ianto was like "Well, later..." OWENOWENOWEN the bastard interupting.

Ianto proper DJ'ed! When Jack and Gwen were dancing, he was in the background XD then he came over and was all like "I wanna dance with Jack omhomhomh" (the point at which I nearly broke the ceiling.

Ofc I'm only mentioning the Janto parts...but it was an awesome ep ^_^

Ianto is very awesome this series :) Which makes me all the more angrier.

heh, I didn't mind so much, at least there's some mystery and some decent characterisation.

I've watched it again, and I saw! w00t! IANTO OF THE MANY er, SKILLS? (what's the phrase?)

That bit ("I wanna dance with Jack omhomhomh" LOL) was cute, but it actually had me hiding. As in stood up and walked round the corner until I couldn't see it anymore. I was just reminded of Jack/Jack too much, and then Jack was all silly! over Gwen ._.

Only mention the Janto parts with pleasure :) they're my favourite bits :D

cos I have this idea, taken from a fic, that when Ianto falls, he falls hard. And Jack might love everyone, but Ianto needs and wants him, and is there for him, and was so upset when he left... and Jack is totally ignoring that loving. Also, it limits the fluffy fic, or makes it wishfulthinking!fluffy, both of which are things I DO NOT WANT. I want Ianto.

I just found it embarrassing, which is weird, cos I think otherwise, I wudda squeed to high Heaven. 'Cept I did. Maybe it was the gwack? o_o

People were talking about F/F vs M/M, and all my flatmates said F/F was 'better' than M/M (M/M was just off-putting). I, *ahem* remained silent. heh heh heh.

Yeah Ianto seems to be reliant on Jack somewhat. He's always there when Jack calls him. When Jack and Gwen were dancing, they were staring into each others eyes but when Ianto and Jack danced, they weren't. Jack's smile seemed to fade from his face. I reeeeeeally wish Jack would love Ianto more :[

You totally can come. Um, I guess it can be a Janto party! I don't know how it's going to work but nevermind.

M/M is SO MUCH BETTER XD F/F is good too but still. My flatmates must never know either. They give me funny looks as it is :P

Jack loved Ianto in End of Days. Then all of a sudden, he loves Gwen. WHAT NOW? Personally, I think it has nothing to do with story, it's just that the BBC are worried that they'll lose viewers with teh ghey. So they add het to make people alright with it, to make Jack omnisexual than just gay. It's what a lot of people would do in that position, me included, but it still suxx0rs.

JANTO PARTY FTW! We will drink Coffee and eat Pizza while squeeing over Torchwood Janto bits and reading fic, y/y? Also, we could hire JB and GD-L and get them to dress up, and just watch them.

M/M is hot, and F/F is hot, but F/F tends to be clichéd unlikely for-men!porn, whereas M/M is a bit more about the writing, and some loves, as well as more likely in Fandom. However weird and complicated that sounds. I think I just confused myself :-S

Yeah it's really stupid. I think I'd do the same thing also. Nevermind eh, as long as we get our fix of Janto, we'll be fine :P

I guess there's always been the underlying thing of Gwen/Jack (I REFUSE to call it Gwack, it's the most herrendous abbreviation ever) but it's coming out more this season which is rather rubbish. I hope now that Gwen is married that Jack takes more care of Ianto & starts to love him more. Although Jack can't really help but be a manwhore at times.

Heh, I think I understand that. Men are weird when it comes to F/F and they expect a certain thing from it. Men are more about loving each other rather than the sexual side (if you know what I mean) Okay I'm confused now as well. I think it's safe to say Janto rules so there XD

I shudda thought about that - losing Lisa, I mean - cos that's exactly why he is being clingy. Especially with the manwhore than Jack is, and his ability to swan off anytime he likes. I'd cry.

I call it 'Gwack' to mock it, even though I agree, it's nasty. Last series, it was on BBC Three, late at night. This series, it's prime time, and it's on BBC Two. Change of channel means change of audience, and that means more Gwen/Jack. I am NOT happy, but if we want TW to stay on, we have to put up with it. *sigh*

I hope Jack will be better with Ianto as well, maybe he was more emo over his marriage than Gwen's? *hopes* Jack is the best kind of manwhore though, you have to agree.

BEST. PARTY. EVER. Hey, I'm up for it, 'cept I'd be a bit nervous about meeting LJ people in RL (I'd worry we'd have nothing to talk about) although it could be fun :)

Someone said something about het once: something like het was often full of bad characterisations, 'cos it was just about The Ship, and what the writer wanted. Becuase Slash is often not canon, it requires more to make us believe it - more realism, better characterisation, better writing overall. This is why het is more often than not, ew. (or seems to me since I've been in Fandom in general.) Woah, slash!meta, w00p.

hope that's cleared it up a bit :) Janto does rule, a lot. It is The Bestest. (and it's really taken over my mind recently :-S)
