My first entry, I think because I was just browsing around the Internet at the time of setting up this fabulous list of '100 Things That Make Me Happy' (or TTMMH for short) was YouTube.

I am not going to explain what YouTube is, or how it came to be, or what it does. You are HERE. ON THE INTERNET. RIGHT NOW. If you didn't realise that, turn off your computer and sit down for a while, you're in for a shock.

What I suppose I really should be explaining, is why it makes me so happy (Bear with me, this is an exercise in thinking in more that 140 characters again, particularly more than 140 characters that you might actually, you know, want to read. #damnyouTwitter)

YouTube makes me happy because it exists.

No, more than that. It's like a marketplace of the Internet. Everyone knows where it is, everyone knows how to find it, and everyone knows what it does and what it doesn't do. The metaphor doesn't end there; people DO sell on it, they do shout and rant and persuade you to buy their goods, whether that's a make up range, a phone wallpaper, or their own particular brand of comedy.

And that's just it. It is so wide and varied and exciting. It's people doing what they do best, what they've done for centuries, just without the other person being there at the same time as them. People are telling their stories on YouTube, and furthering their careers; Charlieissocoollike is one such example of someone who lives off the revenue YouTube makes from the ads on his blog. I suppose, a bit like the Internet itself, from the pioneering glory of Tim Berners-Lee, YouTube facilitates everything that is great about people, for free. The bad bits too (commenters and all that) but I can leave that. What I love, and the reason that YouTube makes me happy, is that it's a People's Paradise. And I kinda like People.

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

Like [livejournal.com profile] msdillydally I've decided to do this... thang. I wrote a list of '100 Things That Make Me Happy' so I'm thinking I'm gonna use that. Then maybe we can have some chicken, maybe some sex... You know, see what happens. #Anchormanquoteforeverypartoflife #stophashtaggingLaura

So, in no particuar order, I BEGIN.

Day 01: Your Favourite Quote
Day 02: Your Favourite Episode
Day 03: Most Confusing Episode

Following on similiar ground from the post I just made, I'd have to say The Impossible Astronaut has confused me the most. The more I watch it, the more things make even less sense. I SWEAR, every single line in that episode seems to have some sort of further meaning, and I'm confusing myself every time I think about it.

... but it's so GOOD.

Day 01: Your Favourite Quote
Day 02: Your Favourite Episode

Yet AGAIN I started trying to be all encompassing and just failed, MISERABLY FAILED. I starting listing all my favourite episodes, and it ended up pretty being ALL of the episodes. This is the second time I've tried really really hard to isolate my favouritest thing about this show and ended up including JUST TOO MUCH. It is only the second day. Apparently I love Doctor Who. A LOT. Who knew? lulz.

The point is that my favourite episode has always moved around (if I've ever had just one) - I tend to judge an episode on the ones around it, so comparing inter-series favourites doesn't quite work. I might pick my favourites out of each series and then go from there.

The first time I got into Fandom and the reason I'm here now, was because I got swallowed up like many other teenage girls in Ten/Rose. Via the magic of the Big Finish Audio The Kingmaker (my favourite audio *without doubt*) I think, I went all classic!Who, which acted as a sort of Rosefen antedote, and I'm happy to say that any emotional attachment I once had to Rose and Ten has disappeared without trace.

I zink I make tey cuts ere and zen... AN ZEN )

NOW I TALK ABOUT ZEE MOFFAT EPS YEEEEESSSS

... I like ALL of them. The Eleventh Hour was so damn refreshing after Rusty made it all about emoemoemo and setting fire to the moon or something, and I love how resourceful Eleven was, even if he was (to begin with) a bit too much like Ten for my liking. The companion-lite episode was pretty cool too - I didn't expect it to be all that much and yet I watched The Lodger again only a few weeks ago and it was still brilliant. Nice to see it's not just a one-off, either ;P

I HAVE  SEEN THE BIG BANG ABOUT A THOUSAND AND A MILLION TIMES AND I AM A BIT IN LOVE WITH  IT. No, not really, but I have watched it A LOT. It's just amazing. In my review, I realised that this finale was one that actually felt like it was wrapping up a story rather than just EXPLODING in a lot of ways, and it's still soooooo good, ohmagud. I was also glad to see Moff do a happy Christmas Special, for once. Or a least one with a positive spin, I suppose. Some of the bits were just beautiful - that song haunted my mind for days, and my the quote I listed as my favourite comes from A Christmas Carol.

Finally finally we move onto this series. I'd say it was too early to judge since we're not even up to ep 4 yet, but you know what, I'm GOING TO JUDGE. You know why? Because The Impossible Astronaut was THE EPITOMY of Doctor Who. Matt was PERFECT as a timey wimey travelsome Doctor, River became more than just "spoilers" but an ACTUAL CHARACTER and OT4 OMG; Karen ACTED HER LITTLE SOCKS OFF and it confused and dazzled and entertained and fucking FREAKED OUT everything all at the same time... Oh, just... good writing, good plotting, good acting. Unff.

In a similar bout of unfy goodness, one word: BLINK.

This post brought to you by too many italics. Soz.

Since I can't get enough of Doctor Who right now, and I haven't done a meme for a while, the 30 Days of Who is lookin' pretty interesting to me at the moment. Ladies and Gentleman, it is time.

Day 1: Your favourite quote.

I had to think about this for a while. What sort of quote was I looking for? One that made me laugh? Made me scared? Made me think? In the end, I thought this of this one, illustrated in one simple icon by [livejournal.com profile] _pseudofriends .

To me, it sums up who the Doctor is, what his priorities are, why he does what he does. To me, this is the thing we should all aspire to. To me, this is the Doctor, at his very best. This is what Doctor Who is all about: just your average everyday run-of-the-mill entirely unique and brilliant down-to-earth superhero.

I'm posting two. It's my journal. Try and stop me.

The first is my newly favouritest picture by my friend ol' [livejournal.com profile] purpleface . The colours are so complimentary, the image so simple, and yet so full of meaning too. It's just a picture of a pair of shoes on some turf but it feels like it'll mean something different to everyone. And the finish (excuse my ignorance of photograpy) is just beautifully dreamy. To me, it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

The second picture is the one that really gave me a kick in the butt about doing something with my life. I guess it's a picture of a quote more than an actual picture, but it affected me all the same. I've already posted it, but no reason not to post again, eh?

I wonder what it will make you feel?

I visit LJ a lot, but seven days in a row? I'm not sure... We'll see how this goes, anyway.

So, onto the Day 01!

day 02 | a picture
day 03 | a book/ebook/fanfic

day 05 | a youtube clip
day 06 | a quote

I'm posting this: Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap.

It's the song on the 4Music Festival Coverage ad, so you might recognise it. I don't know who worked on it, but yet again, it's an awesome choice. To me, it seems to sum up the festival spirit perfectly; it's like a weekend anthem that's not quite for the weekend, and it's just naturally full of good times and friendships. I've been listening to it loads, and it's already seen me through some bad times. I'm just hoping I get to be all geeky and play it when I get to some festivals next year!  ^__^

#Because I should be working; because I'm so bored; because I have things to do. A MEME.#

Leave me a comment o' randomness; your favourite quote, the best sandwich in the world, a good song lyric, what colour pants you're wearing and I'll respond with three questions you can answer in your own LJ leaving with them an open invitation for other people to give you comments o' randomness. Then you can ask them questions and before you know it we'll all know everything about everyone - even if we've never met!

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

It's not exactly "pretty" but I still think it's one of the best pictures I've ever taken.

Got the new DWM today, and of course, it's all about Donna, and what we can expect from Series 4. Articles in there suggest Donna is a little bit changed from The Runaway Bride: she's calmer and more savvy. But I want someone who is awkward in the TARDIS, who isn't so polite or lovely; someone who doesn't understand things or even why these things happen.

Which led me to wonder...

Do you think there will ever be a "stupid" companion? Do you think the Doctor would ever want to have someone like that on his ship? One who makes mistakes and who doesn't have that kick-ass common sense that tells them what to do?
