All the university computers have IE rather than firefox. It is pissing me off. IE is just so far behind firefox when it comes to being efficient and user-friendly. And don't even get me started on bloody bing.

Otherwise, hi guys. I hope everything's ok, especially if you're just getting back to uni again. Good luck, and have fun!

Disappearing off the map for a while, as I've moved into a new, sadly internet-less house, and can't get tinter on my new old phone. Might be a couple of weeks 'til I get it properly :(

Today I found a one-cent Euro piece in my garden. I was going to keep it, but then I decided to throw it in the bushes to confuse the archeologists instead.

I'm posting two. It's my journal. Try and stop me.

The first is my newly favouritest picture by my friend ol' [livejournal.com profile] purpleface . The colours are so complimentary, the image so simple, and yet so full of meaning too. It's just a picture of a pair of shoes on some turf but it feels like it'll mean something different to everyone. And the finish (excuse my ignorance of photograpy) is just beautifully dreamy. To me, it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

The second picture is the one that really gave me a kick in the butt about doing something with my life. I guess it's a picture of a quote more than an actual picture, but it affected me all the same. I've already posted it, but no reason not to post again, eh?

I wonder what it will make you feel?

Seven day meme, stolen from [profile] indes_elfwine .

I visit LJ a lot, but seven days in a row? I'm not sure... We'll see how this goes, anyway.

So, onto the Day 01!

I'm posting this: Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap.

It's the song on the 4Music Festival Coverage ad, so you might recognise it. I don't know who worked on it, but yet again, it's an awesome choice. To me, it seems to sum up the festival spirit perfectly; it's like a weekend anthem that's not quite for the weekend, and it's just naturally full of good times and friendships. I've been listening to it loads, and it's already seen me through some bad times. I'm just hoping I get to be all geeky and play it when I get to some festivals next year!  ^__^

ROBBIE

I'm watching 'We Robbie: Top 20' songs on 4music. People seem to be gearing up for his comeback, and there's a sort of air (as much as there can be across the media) of worry over what that comeback will be like.

For me, Robbie was never not going to stop being a star. He's one of those rare things - a natural born entertainer - even in this age of celebrity. Take That are back and doing brilliantly, but as a fan a both, they know have very different audiences and styles, and it'll just be the bands feeling which steps on old ground. Take That produce beautiful melodic rooftop sounds that seem to sing right to you, and Robbie can put his voice to a plethora of genres; his jazz sound is something that needs to be heard, even if you're not a fan of the guy.

I'm excited about his new material, and chuffed he's back doing his thing, and I hope I'm not alone in 'never forget'ting his star status. He'll be back where he belongs - in the limelight - before we know it. And that's where he's meant to be.

ETA: I just found Take That Slash :S. Internet, sometimes I hate you.

GUUYYSZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I'm off to actually do something in this holiday! I'm gonna be doing some festivaling! YAY. V. excited.

Probably means no internet though. And that obviously means no LJ.

If you've commented, but not got a reply, don't worry; I'll reply as soon as I can.

Having one more series is not 'axed'. But yes, the news we've all been waiting for: Big Brother's 11th series will be its last.

In other tv news: the dancing couples have been released for Strictly Come Dancing, of which I am a seasonal fan. It's your usualy mix of soap stars and sports personalities with some odd individuals thrown in for variety.

Natalie Cassidy looks particularly amazing in the release photos, but has also revealed she's in it for the weight loss *sigh*

They've changed so much about the show that I loved. And I loved it because it was a bit old-fashioned like that. It was something that I could be sure of, and unlike a lot of other celebrity reality tv, it was mostly about talent and trying, rather than popularity and looks (although there were times those things were included with the votes). And what does Alesha Dixon know about dancing? Srsly.

I didn't watch last years'; I dunno if I'll watch this one. I enjoy the dancing I s'pose. And at least I'll have a tv this time :P

VOLUNTEERING:

Work experience previously extended to remembering how everyone in the office took their tea but charity Vinspired is helping change that image by helping 16 to 25-year-olds find the perfect placement to inspire them, improve communities and increase their career prospects.

'In these financially challenging times, it has never been more important for young job-seekers to stand out and be noticed by employers, and it is equally important for businesses to ensure they recognise the desire for self-improvement,' says Dragons' Den star James Caan, just one of the scheme's high-profile backers.

Vinspired.com - Why did nobody tell me about this?? I'm so excited, there are opportunities for everything and these things aren't even inconveniently far away! It's a little late in the summer, but it's something anyway! Woohoo!

My dad's listening to the radio,
A programme about kids,
And their enjoyment of poems,
No matter their wits.

The children all clamour
To read theirs aloud,
To get read on the radio,
To think out of their cloud.

The poets understand them,
Make poems with noise,
Alliterations and rhythms,
To make smiles for girls and boys.
