He shouts too much. But he's funny at filming - cos he cocks up so much and has to re-do it all, that's why he's laughing half the time he's trying to say stuff. For me, the worst one on Mock The Week is Frankie Boyle - he's a really funny guy but some of his jokes and stuff are so sick and disgusting and it makes it quite difficult for me to watch with my parentals and them not to get all grumpy about how pointless and totally inappropriate he is.
Hugh Dennis and Russell Howard, however, can do no wrong. They are muchos funny.
Frankie? hmmm... I dunno about him. For a start I get him mixed up with other people (particularly Ed Byrne for some reason). He's very good at comedy, but some of the things he says, particularly in more recent episodes are a bit dodgy, to say the least. There's funny, there's below the belt (which can sometimes be funny), then there's Frankie Boyle.
That said, he has made me laugh a fair few times. But I still try to watch it on my own.
Hugh Dennis seems a bit up himself sometimes, but that's alright, because he's made me laugh an awful lot. And Russell Howard? The stuff he comes out with sometimes make me laugh so much I feel like I've been doing sit up for the past half hour. I *LOVED* his little spiel on talking to two year old about gay relationships. I giggled for aaages over that!
I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he just makes me go "hheerrr" rather than laugh, which everyone else on the show has made me do repeatedly. And not last weeks', but the one before, when he was making all those Ireland at the Olympics jokes? I had to turn it off I was so embarrassed.
Some of his jokes seem to need so much bulky setting up, it's not worth it by the time there's a punchline. And it feels to me like all the other guests are just like "Andy's telling a joke again. *sigh*"

29/8/08 14:17 (UTC)yes, he's not funny at all really. He may have made me smile once or twice, but never really laugh. Shame!
