Poems for kids

My dad's listening to the radio,
A programme about kids,
And their enjoyment of poems,
No matter their wits.

The children all clamour
To read theirs aloud,
To get read on the radio,
To think out of their cloud.

The poets understand them,
Make poems with noise,
Alliterations and rhythms,
To make smiles for girls and boys.

The adults - the experts -
Their comments so clever
Of how children will like
Old and new poems forever.

"I think what a child knows,
Is that they like fast and wild.
But I wouldn't know,
I was never a child."

Adults and children,
Apparently two different things,
have completely different minds,
And different readings.

"My study of children --
 Quite special, you know --
Is that they think in one way,
And it's true, 'cause I say so."

The conclusion they came to,
Was one of memory
That children loved rhymes
And poets were funny.

But what I can't comprehend
Is how these people don't get it
Of how children percieve things
It's like they forget it.

I know there are decades
Between young and old
But it did happen once,
Or so I am told.

Those years of your life
Are meant to be the most fun,
So how is it these people
Act like they never were one?

It's funny how these things,
They seem such a divide
Maybe these "adults"
Should remember Inside.

It's the curse of the human
To have an inquisitive mind
But maybe, sometimes,
We accidentally leave things behind.

So let's not always study,
Or try to own up,
But remember we were once a child
And not always grown up.

Thanks :) I was just a bit annoyed at how all these people were acting like they knew what children were like because they studied it and nothing else.
